About
the Chef . . .
As a
public relations consultant and award-winning writer with more
than 20 years’ experience and a bachelor’s degree in
Public Relations, Deborah Brown serves as the “head chef”
of the PR à la carte enterprise. A seasoned professional in
public relations, brand marketing, copywriting, event planning,
media relations, feature writing and related disciplines, Brown
has worked with some of the top corporations, organizations and
individuals in the country within the spheres of entertainment,
high technology, higher education, health and fitness, B2B and
consumer products and services.
Originally
from St. Louis, Missouri, Brown graduated with honors with a
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Central Missouri
State University before moving on to the Washington, D.C. area.
There, as a public relations specialist for prestigious George
Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, she had the
opportunity to assist in the huge media onslaught surrounding Dr.
James Buchanan’s winning of the Nobel Prize in Economics in
1986. During
this same period, she served as an interim dance critic for The
Washington Times and also did freelance work for
the American Public
Health Association, Washington Hospital Center, Washington
Healthcare Management Group, the Chemical Manufacturer’s
Association and others.
Relocating
to the Los Angeles area in 1987, Brown was immediately hired as
a publicist for Solters/Roskin/Friedman, one of the world’s
top entertainment public relations firms handling Barbra Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston, The Grammy Awards, Van
Halen, the world-famous Sotheby’s Auction House, Universal
Studios-Hollywood, The Nashville Network and a host of other top
names and corporate entities. From there, she moved on to Innovative Media Productions, where she served as senior account
executive and Director of Editorial. During her tenure with the
company, Brown was instrumental in the success of a wide variety
of high-profile projects, including the star-studded Earth
Day International Awards -- a bi-coastal event taking place at
the United Nations in New York and CBS Studios in Los Angeles;
top flight fund-raising galas involving U.S.
governors, top celebrities, producers and studio moguls;
early career publicity for Latin sensation Ricky Martin and actress/singer Jennifer Love Hewitt;
and “Roots” author Alex Haley’s last press conference
before his death.
An
independent public relations consultant and writer since 1993,
Brown has been a key contributor to a wide variety of film,
music, stage and television-related projects as well as
high-technology/interactive, health and fitness, B2B and
consumer accounts. Her
long string of credits include projects associated with such
illustrious names as Intel, MSN, RadioShack, MTV, Steven
Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment, 20th Century Fox,
Paramount Pictures, Universal Studios-Hollywood, The Guggenheim
Museum, The Houston Space Center Museum, Muscle & Fitness
Magazine, Mrs. Beasley's Celebrity Gourmet Bakery Chain, Quincy Jones, James Cameron, Oliver Stone, Matt
Damon, George Clooney, ICE-T and many more.
“In an
uncertain economic climate where public relations and marketing
services are desperately needed yet sometimes considered a
luxury, I created the PR à la carte concept to meet the demand for an effective,
highly customized, yet affordable solution,” says Brown.
“There are so many companies, organizations and
individuals that can benefit tremendously from expertly crafted
media/marketing materials and customized public relations
campaigns that tell their stories in a compelling, newsworthy
way. PR à la carte is here for
them." |
